Fashion Jewelry Hall Of Fame Inducts Costume Jewelry Designers
January 8, 2005 -- Robert Mandle, as the story goes is the namesake for the famous Mandolin brooches. Mandle sketched his first pin, a three-bell Christmas design while in the Armed Forces in Paris during World War II. Famous for his "Secret Heart" ring advertised in Seventeen Magazine in the 1960's, Robert Mandle was also a recipient of the Swarovski Design Award in 1966. Robert was the son of Urie Mandle, who was a salesman for Coro and Lisner, two of the best-known manufacturers in costume history.Walter Lample is known not just for his many diverse and entertaining styles of costume jewelry, including Art Deco, Retro, Orientalia, and charms with moving parts, but also for his innovative distribution system and the warm and personal business relationships he developed. Some of his most famous works include the "City of Tomorrow" World's Fair charm, and the enameled "Patriot Pin", which was designed as a reminder of the Pearl Harbor attack, and the enchanging, "Circus Pin".Ruth Kampke, an important name to costume historians, began her prolific career at age 15 working for Manhattan dress designers.

Later, as an in-house designer of fashion for private label manufacturer Fallon & Kappel, Ruth designed lines that were sold under such prestigious names as Hattie Carnegie and Eisenberg, including "Eisenberg

Ice". Ruth would routinely produce 400-plus designs twice per year, with a supplemental "Cruise" collection in between the standard seasonal offerings.
